Indigo Swing

Indigo Swing

Indigo Swing
Welt & Placket Recordings, San Francisco, CA. 1995

This is a great swing CD. Need I say more? Every song on this CD is great for listening, most of them are great for swing dancing, though they do slip in one Cha-Cha song. My favorite is My Baby Just Cares For Me.

Tracks 5, 7, and 9 are great for beginner swing classes (in that order); I use track 5 myself when teaching someone how to dance. With track 13, imagine Johnny Boyd coming down to the dance floor with his mike to sing in the spotlight while you're snuggled up to your honey on the dance floor. There is a mixture of slow and fast tunes, all packed with high energy to encourage you to get on the dance floor. Having seen the band many times, I can always remember lead singer Johnny Boyd smiling as he belts out the tunes for his dancing crowd. This CD was made for people who want to swing! Play the CD and get inspired. This CD is a Must Buy.

The only thing better than this CD is listening to the awesome swing band live. If you get to San Francisco, catch their act.

Since this review was written, lead singer Johnny Boyd had left the band and gone solo. The band had picked up another singer, but was not actively playing recording or performing, though it was rumored that they do get together to perform as Indigo Swing if hired.
