SloaneDance was founded in 1994 by Sarah Sloane to provide affordable group swing dance classes. SloaneDance, formerly known as Hepcats, also offers other kinds of dance classes including Lindy Hop, Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Argentine Tango, in Providence and Narragansett, Rhode Island and South Dartmouth, Massachusetts. The emphasis is on social or "street style" dancing, rather than competition style dancing. No partner is necessary since we rotate partners (this is not a requirement if you prefer to stay with your spouse or partner). Ages 11 years and up are welcome and you can repeat the beginning 4 weeks for free! Since 1995, Hepcats has provided Rhode Island with low cost, non-smoking dances with the best in live music or recorded music featuring jump blues and big band swing. The dances are held at the First Congregational Church in Fairhaven, MA.
